Southern Relief Road Pressure results in some progress
Eddie McGrady MP, after a series of contacts with the Minister for Regional Development outlining his concerns about the lack of priority being given the Southern Relief Road Project, has received an assurance from the Minister that the Assessment of the Southern Relief Road Feasibility study will be completed by the end of April 2009.
On receiving this news the MP said;
“ I welcome the fact that the Minister has now recognised the need to move quickly ahead with this project.. The traffic problems currently being experience in Newry would be greatly assist by the development of the Southern Relief Road and the need for this project could not be more urgent.
I will continue to pursue this matter to its ultimate conclusion, which is the building of the Southern Relief Road alleviating the traffic congestion into and out of Newry and creating an easier access North & South for both local, business and tourism travellers.
Ends.
