Recruitment issues at Midwife Led Maternity Unit Downe Hospital
Speaking after news coverage on the recruitment issue surrounding the New Mid-Wife Led Delivery Unit at the Downe Hospital the MP said;
“The recruitment process for suitably qualified midwife’s to staff the new midwife led Delivery unit in the Downe Hospital is a work in progress. I am disappointed that the full staff compliment has not yet been recruited. However, I am aware that this is a difficult task and that the Trust is vigorously pursing this recruitment drive.
The Midwifery Unit at the new Downe Hospital is currently providing a range of services to local women including ante and post natal care, scanning, and access to the community midwifery services
The Midwife led Delivery service is a new pioneering service within the Midwifery profession, set in new state of the art facilities and I hope that in the not to distant future we will have the full complement of staff required “
