South Down MP Eddie McGrady has welcomed the news that Tesco has secured its future in Newcastle for the benefit of customers and staff alike.

Mr McGrady stated, “I am extremely pleased that Tesco will remain in Newcastle as it is a very popular store that serves the Newcastle community. The successful outcome of ongoing negotiations means that 160 jobs have been safeguarded as well, and staff members can continue to benefit from the flexible, local employment opportunities that the store offers. These are valuable jobs, and it is very important that they are retained, especially during the current economic climate.
