MP welcomes progress on social housing for Castlewellan
South Down MP Eddie McGrady has welcomed the commitment given by Oaklee
Housing Association to commence work on the new social housing scheme in
Castlewellan in March 2010.
Mr McGrady stated, “Following representations to Oaklee, I understand that
it is progressing social housing units at the site of the former PSNI
station in Castlewellan to provide 6 5-person, 3-bedroom terraced houses
for family occupation.
This will be a welcome boost for those registered for housing in
Castlewellan, providing much needed accommodation for those in housing
stress, and I would like to commend Oaklee for pursuing this scheme.
I know that my Party colleague, Minister Margaret Ritchie, is actively
committed to increasing the supply of housing for those most in need and
tackling housing problems.
I hope that the future residents of this scheme will benefit from safe and
quality accommodation.”
