MP welcomes opening of new cinema complex

South Down MP Eddie McGrady has attended the opening of Downpatrick Cinema Complex.

Mr McGrady commented, “This development is warmly welcomed in the area for the contribution it will make to the local economy with job opportunities and the generation of extra trade.

It is very heartening to see the opening of this project and the buzz of excitement it has generated in this difficult economic climate.

This project, along with the opening of our new hospital, and Further Education College is a welcome boost for the people of Downpatrick and surrounding areas.

It is my hope that this new cinema and the associated complex will act as a trigger to further development of the town’s leisure industry. Hopefully this development will encouraging other retailers and leisure providers such as cafés, restaurants etc to open later into the evening and create a evening entertainment culture in the town.
