MP welcomes New Down High Planning Approval

Speaking on receiving the news the MP said;

“After many months of meetings and talks I am very pleased we have now received planning permission for the New Down High School. The speedy conclusion to this application, which I was assured would be the case by Planning Service from the outset, would not have been possible without the high degrees of co-operation between the School Principal, Board of Governors, South Eastern Education and Library Board and all the other Roads and planning agencies involved.

On many occasions we meet to discuss the application in order to ensure its speedy approval. and I am very pleased that the hard work and dedication of all those involved has paid off, and that we can begin to plan for the New Down High.

The Down High is a school that contributes greatly to our local community in term of social and educational excellence. Today’s decision will ensure the continued link between Down High and the community of Downpatrick which I believe is vitally important.
