MP Supports Public Meeting Against Ballynahinch Library Closure

 Speaking to the large crowd who attended Wednesday night meeting the MP for South Down Eddie McGrady said;

“This proposal to close the font line service provided by Ballynahinch Library is one of many cost cutting exercises facing our community. While we accept that savings must be made, we cannot accept that frontline services and library’s such as this one in Ballynahinch will be axed to make short-term savings. This decision will take jobs out of the area and deny the local population, schools and researches access to local library services.

I support the local community in its calls for the retention of the library service in Ballynahinch and I will be lobbying the Minister on the need to locate NI Library’s New Headquarters in Ballynahinch where the infrastructure and expertise already exists.
