Eddie McGrady MP says Europe is Essential to South Down

Speaking after an extensive visit of the SDLP’s European Candidate Alban Maginness to South Down Eddie McGrady MP said;

“ Today will be the first of many visit by the SDLP’s European Candidate Alban Maginness to South Down. Today Alban received a briefing and tour of Warrenpoint Harbour’s state of the art shipping facilities, viewed first hand the importance of the fishing industry to the Kilkeel area, and the many successful business projects around Kilkeel Harbour, many of them started by those who had to diversify away from fishing over recent years. Alban also visited the Corncrane Centre in Castlewellan, where again he saw first hand the importance of European funding to local community development.

The wealth of development brought about by European involvement in South Down, and the crucial role that Europe plays in our fishing industry means that it is vital that the SDLP and its voters ensure that Alban Maginness is elected to the European Parliament, to take our voices and make them heard in Brussels. For too long Europe, how it impacts on our everyday lives and what it can offer us has been sidelined by Sinn Fein and the DUP. When the SDLP are in Europe we all win. The SDLP deliver for people on the ground and now more than ever the people of South Down need to ensure that the SDLP can again deliver from Europe, for our communities and industries.

South Down will win if we give our support to Alban in the upcoming European Elections.
