MP says Ballyhornan Sewage Scheme is most urgent and the most documented

Eddie McGrady MP spoke of his disbelief when he received the news that the treatment works planned for Ballyhornnan would not be pursued. The MP said;

“While it is well documented that waste water treatment facilities in Northern Ireland have been subject to under investment, nowhere has the focus of this problem been as great as the Ballyhornan area. Over the past few years I have been involved in highlighting at every level of government the infrastructural problems experienced by the residents at Ballyhornan and chief among these was the absence of any type of sewage treatment facility.

It beggars belief that this project is now being sidelined by the Department for Regional Development. Once again we see the intransigent attitude of the Department of Regional Development when it comes to developing the Ballyhornan area and providing vital services to its residents.

I will once again make strong representations to the Minister for regional Development and ask for an immediate review of this decision.
